Alco Living delivered the design, supply, and installation of kitchens and utility spaces for the Hazel End residential development in Bishop’s Stortford. Appointed by Countryside (Vistry), the project formed part of the transformation of a former open field into a high-quality housing community.

Across 89 new-build homes, Alco Living provided tailored kitchen solutions aligned to varying house types, ensuring consistency in quality while accommodating specification differences. The project demonstrated Alco Living’s ability to integrate design precision with efficient delivery across a large-scale residential scheme.

THE Brief

The client required a reliable delivery partner to manage the full kitchen package across a multi-unit housing development, with a strong emphasis on quality, consistency, and programme alignment.

Key requirements included the coordination of kitchen design, procurement, and installation across multiple property types, ranging from three-bedroom to five-bedroom homes. Each unit required accurate spatial measurement post-construction, followed by efficient ordering and installation with minimal disruption to the build programme.

Operating within a live construction environment, the project demanded careful sequencing, logistical coordination, and adaptability in response to programme delays outside of the kitchen installation scope.

our approach

Alco Living adopted a structured and methodical approach to ensure consistent delivery across all units. Each property underwent a detailed check measure process once construction reached the appropriate stage, allowing kitchens to be precisely specified and manufactured with minimal need for adjustment.

Close coordination with the main contractor and site teams ensured installations aligned with overall build progress. Kitchens were manufactured in Germany and delivered directly to site, requiring robust logistics planning and scheduling to avoid delays or storage constraints.

Specification management remained a key component of the approach. Alco Living ensured that each dwelling type received the correct kitchen configuration, from laminate worktops in three- and four-bedroom homes to upgraded quartz surfaces in five-bedroom properties.

Throughout the project, emphasis was placed on maintaining quality standards, managing risk, and ensuring installations progressed efficiently despite external programme pressures.

project delivery

The scope of works covered the full kitchen lifecycle, including design coordination, procurement, and installation. Alco Living delivered tailored kitchen solutions across multiple house types, each with distinct specifications and appliance packages.

Kitchen units featured single-colour MFC laminate doors with white carcasses, providing a clean and consistent aesthetic across the development. Worktop specifications varied by property size, with laminate finishes used in three- and four-bedroom homes, while five-bedroom properties incorporated higher-specification quartz stone surfaces with full-height detailing behind hobs.

Appliance integration was carefully managed, incorporating a range of manufacturers including Electrolux, Zanussi, AEG, and Elica, depending on property type. Additional elements such as Pyramis sinks and taps, along with surface-mounted strip lighting, contributed to a cohesive and functional kitchen environment.

The delivery required multiple installation stages, coordinated with broader construction activities. Despite programme delays on site, Alco Living maintained flexibility, ensuring works were completed efficiently as properties became available.

outcome

Upon completion, 83 homes were fitted with fully installed kitchens and utility spaces, ready for occupation. The project delivered a consistent standard of finish across the development while accommodating varying levels of specification aligned to property type.

Alco Living’s involvement supported the progression of the wider build programme, ensuring that kitchen installations integrated seamlessly into final construction stages. The result was a high-quality residential offering that enhanced the overall value and appeal of the Hazel End development.

This project demonstrated Alco Living’s capability to deliver large-scale residential kitchen packages with precision, flexibility, and consistency. Through structured processes and close collaboration, the team supported successful outcomes across complex, multi-unit developments.
